Everyone has a TBR—long or short, ever-growing or ever-changing. With every passing year it grows, more and more books being added to the world. With every new year comes new releases and a sense of empowerment that readers have to chip away at their TBR’s. New books or old, we all anticipate reading something new (to us). Some of our team at Prose Before would like to share their most anticipated books to read of 2022 as the new year begins (and possibly inspire some to check out some new books this year to add to your own TBR!).
Kelly says their most anticipated read for 2022 is Again Rachel by Marian Keyes. “I read Rachel's Holiday when I was a teenager so I can't believe there is finally a sequel.”
Amy’s most anticipated read is The Seven Ages of Death by Dr. Richard Shepherd. “Richard is Britain's top forensic pathologist, and a few years ago I read his first book Unnatural Causes, which went into some of the most mind blowing cases he had to work on. His new book takes us through the stages of death - which sounds morbid but I like to keep it weird.”
For Ipp, it’s the new book from Colleen Hoover, Reminders of Him. “She’s my favourite author and I like other books by her so I’m looking forward to reading this one!”
Fizz, alongside a few others on the team, looks forward to the newest from V.E. Schwab. “Mine would be Gallant by V. E. Schwab because I love their writing and Addie LaRue is one of my faves! Also, dark fantasy? Yes, please.”
Nat’s picks are “The Fear by Natasha Preston and Sense and Second Degree Murder by Tirzah Price.”
Mairead’s most anticipated read returns to an author they’ve previously read. “Mine is Sundial by Catriona Ward! I read The Last House on Needless Street last year and LOVED it.”
Francesca is excited for a new dark feminist comedy by Florence Given – Girlcrush! “She’s already written a non-fiction but I’m so excited for her first fiction novel - it’s a dark feminist comedy!”
Juliette’s most anticipated read is “An Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan. I read her debut novel a few years ago and I was obsessed with it. I love the way she writes and this one is inspired by Chinese mythology which sounds super cool!“
My own is Love On The Brain by Ali Hazelwood. Coming out in Fall 2022, I’m very excited to read what else Ali Hazelwood has in store after her debut, The Love Hypothesis, easily became one of my—and many others’— new favourite books of all time, tied for the first place spot on my list.
The sheer amount of new books being released in 2022 has the book community—including us at Prose Before—ready to add dozens of new books to our TBRs. New books and old, debuts and series, 2022 is another new year with so many books to read. Hopefully, this list will give you more books to look forward to this year. The year is young and books are plenty; get out there and read!
