A Love Letter to our Local Booksellers

Dear Beloved Bookseller,

Happy Valentine’s Day.

As you know, reading is our one true love (don’t tell our friends or significant others…) so we are writing to you on this day of love to say a deep and heartfelt thank you.

Thank you for providing the perfect escape from everyday life.

Thank you for not judging us when we buy enough books to fill a mansion (that you suspect we probably do not own).

Thank you for sharing your expertise and making great recommendations.

Thank you for putting up with us when we are lingering in the fiction section past closing time.

Thank you for giving us shelter on a rainy day.

Thank you for encouraging, boosting, and celebrating our bookish passions and personalities.

Thank you for all the special offers, events, and cosy book nooks.

Thank you for being you and for being there when we need you.

Without you our passions would largely be confined to the four walls of our homes and the screens of our phones, especially these past couple of years. You give us a safe space to spread our wings and discover new worlds, new characters, new writers.

When you hand us our new books, you also hand us comfort. For no matter how bad our days get, we always have the pages of that book to look forward to.

So happy Valentine’s Day, dearest bookseller. We don’t know where we’d be without you.

Love from,

Team PBH
