With Valentine’s Day only a month away, you might be starting to think about what to get that book-loving special someone in your life. Luckily, the internet is now full of gorgeous bookish gifts which are perfect to give to partners and friends alike this February! Whether it’s a personalised book embosser, or gadgets to make reading easier, you’re sure to find something perfect in this guide!
Blind Date With a Book
Recently, Bookstagram has seen a surge of posts with the ‘blind date with a book’ theme – I’ve even seen these popping up in local bookshops! The concept is simple; wrap up an unknown book for your recipient and write a few details about the book on the front, without giving it away. This is such a great gift as you can easily do it yourself, and choose books you know they’ll love, or source it from Etsy. I love this mystery gift wrapped book from Etsy, because you have complete control over the genre, whether it be a classic, romance, fantasy, or anything in-between.
Personalised Bookmark
Serious readers will know that folded pages are a total red flag when it comes to books, so why not help them along with a gorgeous, personalised bookmark. I have a beautiful leather one with a Jane Austen quote on (favourite author alert!). Using the persons favourite book quote is always a safe bet. However, to make it truly personal for Valentine’s, you can write them a message of appreciation and sign off with your name, that way they will always be reminded of you when they’re reading!
Book Embosser
This might be my favourite gift EVER for people who love books, especially a sentimentalist like myself! If you’re anything like me, writing your name in the first page is total routine every time you receive a new book. With a book embosser, you can stamp your name into the front page of your books alongside a pretty design. I personally can’t think of a more entertaining way to spend Valentine’s Day than stamping my hundreds of books, but that might just be me. Either way, this is a gift they’re sure to appreciate if they are growing a small library, and it just makes your books feel that bit more special. I love this one from Etsy, which has so many pretty designs you can chose from.
Reading Lights
Any late-night reader who shares a bedroom will know the frustration of having the bedside light unexpectedly turned off right at the best part of the book! If you have someone in your life who quite literally cannot stop reading until the moment they fall asleep, consider a reading light for them. You can get small ones, like this, which clip onto the edge of the book, or larger ones like this gorgeous light up book, which have a brighter glow. A perfect gift for the practical reader.
