If you follow our Instagram page (@prosebefore) you’ve probably already met most of our marvellous team! But, with a few people joining us after those posts were uploaded, we thought it best to create a “Meet the Team” post. A digital magazine was the idea of Lelani, who really wanted to produce some online bookish content. With many book based blogs, websites and magazines already in existence, they wanted to create content that was specifically female led, with inclusivity and diversity at the forefront. Reaching out to a few Bookstagram pals, Lelani curated a small team and so Prose Before Hoes was born. Via social media, we recruited over a dozen more booklovers who were enticed by the idea of Prose Before. Specifically, all team members consider themselves to be part of Bookstagram - a community in which all users' Instagram feeds are dedicated to everything bookish. We are divided into four teams - all of which hold equal importance - enabling us to create high quality content. Executive Team There are currently three of us on the executive team, together growing Prose from the ground up. So far, we have set up an Instagram page, a Facebook page, a website, a blog and, come January, our first digital magazine will be published. The executive team is in charge of managing the other teams, administration, writing, interviewing and editing, as well as navigating several Prose group chats! Lelani (she/they) - Executive Digital Creator, Social Media manager and Administrator
Nat (she/they) - Executive Writer
Amy (she/her) - Executive Editor, Writer and Admin
Writing Team The writing team members dedicate themselves to, well, writing! There are 10 of us in total, tasked with creating written content for the blog and digital magazine. We currently aim to write one or two blogs each per month - meaning Prose can produce at least three blog posts a week - and between one and three articles for our monthly magazine. Heading up the writing team are Nat and Amy, who also love getting involved!
Sarah (she/her) - @readersramblings Mairead (she/her) - @maireadreads Ella (she/her) - @mikasibyl Juliette (she/her) - @a_spoonful_of_juliette Reema (she/her) - reemareads Steph (she/her) - @anxiouspages Kendal (she/her) - @whatkendalreading Alys Collins (she/her) @bookreviewsbyfifi
Interview Team While the writing team has pretty much free reign over what they want to write, the job of the interview team is more specific. Namely: interviewing. They each create short interviews for the blog and social media, and longer interviews for the magazine. All these will focus on book-related topics, including interviews with authors, publishers, small businesses, popular bookish social media users… and lots more! If you’d like to be interviewed by our Prose team, and featured on our blog and/or magazine, please get in touch (prosebefore@gmail.com).
Kelly (she/her) - @bookwormblogss Bec (she/her) - @readwith_bb Juliette (she/her) - @a_spoonful_of_juliette Digital Team Finally we have our amazing digital team. Together they create all the visuals you see on our website, blog and social media pages. They work both individually and as a team to create content for the Instagram feed that they think is important, such as diverse book recommendations, self care tips, and so much more! They also work alongside the writing and interview teams to turn their work into digital content for the website, blog and social media.
Ipp (she/her) - @atchreads Fizzy (she/they) - @fizzyreads Nicole (she/her) - @bookswithnicolee Steph (she/her) - @anxiouspages A word from the Executive Team: Thank you so much to all of our team members. We are already loving working with you and are very excited to get to know you more - on both a personal and professional level. We’re so glad you’re on this bookish journey with us!
And finally from me, a huge thank you to Lelani for creating this idea in the first place and working tirelessly to set everything up. Your hard work isn’t overlooked and you deserve all the credit! Amy (she/her) Executive Writer, Editor and Administrator.
